Planning has begun for CYCLOTRON - the first annual Ottawa Bicycle Convention
The Ottawa-Gatineau area needs a new bicycle fair. CycloFusion last took place Sunday, May 20, from 9 am to 1 pm, in a parking lot next to the Ottawa River Pathway (near the Champlain Bridge exit on the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway).CycloFusion featured 20 booths and interactive displays from various members of the local cycling community including CycloFusion stakeholders, sponsors, and partners, as well as local bike shops, organizations, and clubs. Attendees were provided demos, bike repairs, music, information, and more.CycloFusion was being hosted by EnviroCentre and MOBI-O in partnership with the National Capital Commission. It helped kick off the beginning of the NOKIA Sunday Bikedays and served as an activity to promote Bike to Work Month. CycloFusion was a replacement for defunct events. CycloFusion was meant to fill a hole left by the closure of MEC’s Bikefest, and the demise of Bushtukah’s annual Bike Night. Both these events provided a venue where local cycling organizations, club, and related stakeholders could come together to share information about their activities.
